Pastor Cathy Ward is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, where she served in pastoral ministry. She also has served in Michigan and Illinois conferences. As a native of Nebraskan, she loves the clean air, the beautiful countryside, and the friendly people.

Cathy felt the call to ministry many years ago and continued to pursue calls in various ministries in her previous conferences. Sensing a call to full-time pastoral ministry early on in her life and constantly seeking the Holy Spirit, Cathy returned to Union College, after raising her family, earning two undergraduate degrees (Religion and Leadership). She is currently earning her graduate degree at Andrews University Seminary towards her Master's Degree in Pastoral Ministry (MAPM). She loves sharing Jesus through personal visits, small groups, and preaching. Cathy is married to Michael Ward, and together, are proud parents to nine beautiful children all college graduates. Michael is a Revenue Agent for the State of Nebraska. Michael joins Cathy and, together, they work as a pastoral team for our district.

When asked what guides her personal life and ministry she said; “Over the years I have studied the Bible diligently and there's only one verse that has been a guiding force to me. Living life and facing one battle after the other I needed to come to the place, in my life, where I realized that I don't fight any battles on my own. But if I were patient, waited long enough, and trusted God long enough I would realize that the truth is that the “Battle Belongs to the Lord”.

15 He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. 17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’” (2 Chronicles 20:15-17).

Pastor Cathy and her husband Michael look forward to serving the Central Nebraska District churches; Beaver City, Broken Bow, Holdrege, and Kearney.
